Rivne NPP forced to reduce output due to Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure – Energy Ministry

The Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, like Ukraine’s other operating nuclear power plants, has been forced to reduce its electricity output due to large-scale Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. Restoring normal generation levels will depend on repairs to damaged grids.
Ukraine’s First Deputy Energy Minister Artem Nekrasov announced this during a briefing on November 4, Censor.NET reports.
"Due to large-scale and systematic Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce their output. The return to rated output will take place gradually as power engineers restore grids damaged by the attacks," Nekrasov said.
According to him, Russian troops continue to attack both electricity generation facilities and the substations through which electricity is transmitted to consumers.
Situation in Ukraine’s power system
As of the morning of November 4, Russian attacks had left some consumers without electricity in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
The most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Grid restrictions have been introduced there due to extensive damage to power equipment. Repair crews are working around the clock.
Emergency power cuts are in place in the Kharkiv region due to equipment damage from previous attacks and a drop in voltage in the high-voltage grid. Scheduled outages can resume once the situation stabilises.
Scheduled hourly power cuts remain in place across most regions of Ukraine, while industrial enterprises face power consumption limits.
The Energy Ministry warned that the situation could change throughout the day and advised consumers to follow updates from their local distribution system operators.
