The head of state announced this on Telegram, Censor.NET reports.
Search and rescue operations in Komyshuvakha continue for a third day
"Search and rescue operations have been underway for a third day at the site of the Russian strike on a school in the settlement of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region. The Russians dropped nine aerial bombs. First, they struck people who had come to receive humanitarian aid, and then rescuers and police officers who arrived at the scene," the president said.
Zelenskyy stressed that all necessary services were involved.
"This is an extremely difficult operation, very challenging and effectively under constant threat of further Russian strikes. So far, 40 people are known to have been killed. Unfortunately, some bodies have yet to be identified. My condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed. More than 30 others may still be under the rubble," the head of state added.
Ukraine calls on international partners to strengthen air defences
"Unfortunately, there has been very little reaction from the world to this insane attack. But it, like the thousands upon thousands of other war crimes that Russia has committed against Ukraine and Ukrainians, demands a strong response. Evil always goes further if it goes unanswered," the president remarked.
"We are counting on a response: Ukraine needs air defence support right now. I am grateful to our partners who are taking the necessary steps," Zelenskyy emphasised.
Strike on humanitarian centre kills dozens
- Russian troops attacked the school in Komyshuvakha on November 2. Humanitarian aid was being distributed to local residents there at the time.
- On November 3, three days of mourning were declared in the Zaporizhzhia region for the victims of the massive Russian attack on Komyshuvakha, which became one of the region’s deadliest tragedies since the start of the full-scale invasion.
