House where Duka was detained belongs to family of business partners of his relative, who has ties to Russia — Slidstvo.Info

Slidstvo.Info has discovered who owns the house where NABU detained Duka

The house in Roslavychi, Kyiv region, where agents of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a search and detained Serhiy Duka, first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine’s Department for the Protection of National Statehood, belongs to Olesia Starostina.

This is reported in an article by "Slidstvo.Info", according to Censor.NET.

Who owns the house where NABU detained SSU official Duka?

According to the registry, the property on Heorhiivska Street does not belong to Duka himself. Starostina, a native of Nova Kakhovka, purchased this property in April 2021.

According to journalists, Starostina’s husband—Dmytro Starostin—is a business partner of Alik Mustafayev at the Odessa-based company "Edelweiss-Yua," which grows berries and nuts.  Mustafayev is the brother of Sergey Duka’s wife, Inessa Tazhidinovna Duka (née Mustafayeva).

Journalists noted that in some contacts, Starostina's number is listed as "Olesya Inessa." According to the investigators, this further indicates a connection between the Starostin family and Inessa Duka.

According to information from leaked Russian databases, Alik Mustafayev traveled to Armiansk in occupied Crimea after the start of the full-scale invasion. He also purchased a phone number from a Russian carrier and obtained a Russian passport in 2009, although journalists have been unable to officially confirm the latter.

Olesya and Dmytro Starostiny refused to speak with journalists from "Slidstvo.Info": as soon as they heard the questions, they hung up. We were unable to speak with Mustafayev.

  • According to information from the "Anti-Corruption Center," Lyudmila and Tazhidin Mustafayev—the parents of the wife of SSU General Serhiy Duka—received Russian passports in 2022.

What led up to this?

  • Earlier, the NABU reported that a high-ranking SSU official was threatening to use a weapon and was obstructing a search.
  • Subsequently, the Bureau stated that NABU and the SAPO had uncovered a criminal organization that systematically bribed high-ranking officials of the SSU, the National Police, and the Prosecutor General’s Office in exchange for "protection" of fraudulent call centers and other illegal businesses.
  • The NABU stated that, as part of the investigation into the "Carthage" case, a criminal organization was uncovered whose members had established a systematic practice of bribing high-ranking law enforcement officials in exchange for allowing fraudulent call centers and other illegal businesses to operate unhindered.
  • It was later reported that anti-corruption authorities detained General Serhii Duka, first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine’s Department for the Protection of National Statehood.
  • SSU Director Oleksandr Poklad dismissed two high-ranking officials of the Service who are implicated in the NABU investigation as part of Operation "Carthage." He also urged a suspect in the case, known by the alias "The Mexican," to return to Ukraine and turn himself in to law enforcement authorities.
