Zelenskyy on Kyiv residents’ protests over power outages: "You can’t carry out repairs at leisurely pace"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had seen Kyiv residents block a road the previous day over a prolonged power outage. He then called the interior minister.
Zelenskyy said this in an interview with TSN, Censor.NET reports.
The president's response
According to Zelenskyy, there were not enough people working at the damaged energy facility, which became clear after his conversation with the interior minister.
"Yesterday, I saw people blocking one of the roads in Kyiv. We spoke with the prime minister, and I called Interior Minister Vyhivskyi. He told me: 'We've already taken action there because some people really had been without electricity for a long time.' And there really weren't enough workers at the energy facility. You can't carry out repairs at a leisurely pace, as they say," he said.
According to Zelenskyy, police quickly contacted teams of electricians and brought them to the facility, after which "everything started working."
"And what did the people do? They dispersed. And thank God, because blocking roads is definitely not the way forward. But, on the other hand, the people dispersed. Why? Because they saw that everyone was there and working. That is also the right signal," he added.
Zelenskyy thanked all the groups and teams working at the facilities and said that, even amid this situation and the war, "we will keep working."
What is worsening Kyiv's power supply situation
- According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces are deliberately striking power networks to sever the connection between overall electricity generation and consumers. Because of this damage, Kyiv is physically unable to receive and use the amount of electricity it needs.
