Merkel, Hollande welcome agreement on cease- fire in Donbas
German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande welcomed the agreement on cease- fire in the Donbas.
As reported by Censor.NET, referring to 112 Ukraine, the officials said in a joint statement released by the press service of the German government.
According to the statement, Merkel and Hollande support the agreement of the Trilateral Contact Group regarding the full cease-fire throughout the conflict zone on the occasion of the beginning of the school year.
The politicians reiterated that France and Germany continued supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity.
The day before, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that France and Germany had supported the initiative of the Ukrainian side on the cease-fire in the Donbas from Sept. 1 adding that the decision of President Vladimir Putin of Russia was still expected.
As reported, the complete cease-fire in the Donbas was agreed to be observed at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk Sept. 1. President Poroshenko informed that the truce in the anti-terrorist operation area in eastern Ukraine was observed Sept. 1.
