Disengagement of troops in Stanytsia Luhanska out of question so far, Minister Poltorak says

The disengagement of troops and hardware in Stanytsia Luhanska in the nearest future is absolutely out of question.

This was stated by Ukraine's Defense Minister Poltorak, Censor.NET reports citing Channel 5.

According to Poltorak, this situation is the result of the militants' attacks. The last shelling was recorded five days ago, on Oct. 6, while the agreement stipulates for a week-long cease-fire preceding the disengagement process. The Defense Minister also believes the OSCE mission should tighten control over the area.

"What we are concerned about, what risks we see near Stanytsia Luhanska is the fact that the last shelling was recorded Oct. 6 which makes it impossible for us to withdraw troops and hardware to the pre-agreed positions today. And one more thing, we believe the OSCE monitoring mission's control over disengagement of troops, both our and terrorist's, must be tightened," the minister stressed.

As reported, the troops and hardware were to be withdrawn from Stanytsia Luhanska by Oct. 9, but this process was disrupted.
