Putin congratulates Assad "on successful operation of liberating Aleppo from militants"

"That success was achieved thanks to the joint efforts of all those who united to fight against international terrorism in Syria. Vladimir Putin stressed that the main task now is to focus on issues promoting peaceful settlement, namely by concluding agreements on comprehensive efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis," the statement reads.
As reported, more than 250,000 people have been killed in Syria over five years of war. According to U.N., over 4.8 million people were forced to leave the country and about 6.5 million people in Syria are listed as internally displaced persons.
