Cabinet granted war veteran status to Euromaidan activists
The bill was presented to the Parliament on PM Volodymyr Hroisman's request.
Censor.NET reports citing the Government Portal. The government has approved a bill on additional social protection of Euromaidan activists. The document was prepared in response to the PM's request.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman met with participants of Euromaidan on Jan. 18 and discussed the urgent problems of the activists who suffered in the events, in particular their social security, opportunities for rehabilitation, and payments.
Nearly 1,000 people were injured during the protests and clashes in Ukraine between Nov. 21, 2013 and Feb. 21, 2014. However, the existing law provides the status and social protection only to those people who became disabled as a result of injuries.
The bill recently approved by the Cabinet grants the status of war veteran to those Euromaidan activists who got injuries which did not lead to disability.
