The tradition of holding an annual dinner with representatives of the White House Correspondents Association appeared in 1920. The event is usually attended by president and vice president. This year's event will take place on April 29.
As previously reported, journalists of several U.S. media were blocked from a White House news briefing on Feb. 24.
On the same day, Trump turned his speech before a Conservative Political Action Conference into a full-throated attack on journalism, saying some reporters make up unnamed sources for "fake news" and again describing them as "the enemy" of the American people.
