American billionaire David Rockefeller dies at 101

Billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller has passed away in New York at the age of 101.

The businessman, who reportedly gave away nearly $2 billion in his lifetime, died on Monday in his sleep of congestive heart failure at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York.

David Rockefeller was the oldest billionaire rated by Forbes magazine. The fortune of the 101-year-old businessman was estimated at $3.3 billion.

He was the last of the grandsons of oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller - the first American billionaire and the founder of Standard Oil.
