EU Council approves visa liberalization for Ukraine, - Poroshenko

The Council of the European Union has adopted a resolution to grant Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU.

Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine quoting President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko as saying on Facebook.
"The Council of Ministers of the European Union has just made a final decision to grant the citizens of Ukraine the right to visa-free travel. On May 17, in Strasbourg, in the building of the European Parliament, as previously agreed with our European friends, the relevant legislative act will be signed. This will probably be one of my most important visits during three years of service as head of the Ukrainian state," he said.
Poroshenko recalled the decision will take effect after its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.

"On June 11 roughly, 34 European countries will green light visa-free short-term trips to the owners of Ukrainian biometric passports," he added.
On April 26, the EU ambassadors approved a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens. Earlier, the European Parliament voted to grant Ukraine visa liberalization with the EU. 521 MEPs supported the decision, 75 opposed it, 36 abstained.
