Turchynov urges Internet access providers to start instantly blocking Russian content

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov called on the Internet service providers to begin blocking Russian sites subject to sanctions.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, he told a briefing today."I call Ukrainian providers not to wait for the letter from the Security Service, but start implementing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council with enthusiasm and launch the campaign to block Russian content today," he said.
The official also expressed his hope that the Internet service providers would receive the relevant information letters from the SBU as early as tomorrow.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted the decision by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) on implementing sanctions against social media websites. Internet providers are banned from offering their consumers access to services by "Mail.ru" (www.mail.ru) and socially oriented media VKontakte (www.vk.com) and Odnoklassniki (www.ok.ru). The list also designates services by Kaspersky Lab, Doctor Web and Yandex including Yandex.Money, Yandex.News, Yandex.Photos, and its e-mail service.
