Savchenko law revoked, new law comes into force

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainski Novyny, the law was published in the official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada, Holos Ukrainy, on June 20. It enters into force on the day following the publication.

The law stipulates that one day in pretrial detention center counts as one day of prison term, not two, as provided by the Savchenko law.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Savchenko law initiated by MP Nadiia Savchenko, then political prisoner in Moscow, on Nov. 26, 2015, and revoked on May 18, 2017.
