Maksym Shapoval promoted to major general posthumously, - Poroshenko

The president says the killed military hoped to be promoted on Independence Day.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has promoted intelligence officer Maksym Shapoval, who was killed in a car blast in Kyiv on June 27, to the rank of major general posthumously, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine.

Lying-in-state of Maksym Shapoval was held on June 30 in Kyiv. Shapoval's family, friends, and colleagues came to pay their respects to the deceased.

On June 27, head of special purpose unit of Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of Ukraine's MoD Maksym Shapoval was killed in explosion of a Mercedes vehicle at Solomianska Street in Kyiv.
