Organiser of scheme for smuggling of fugitives to Romania exposed
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, the citizen was served a notice of suspicion of organising the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
How the organiser of the scheme acted
In December 2024, a Ukrainian citizen decided to engage in the smuggling of men out of the country. Together with an accomplice — the administrator of a Telegram channel used to recruit potential draft evaders — they searched for interested clients. The man established contact with a resident of Druzhkivka and offered to help him illegally cross the border into Romania. The cost of this "service" was €7,000.
The suspect bought train tickets to Ivano-Frankivsk and promised to accompany the man on the trip.
Law enforcers detain organiser
Upon reaching his destination, he sent his fellow traveller a border crossing route via messenger and reduced the cost of his work to €6,000. After receiving the money, he was detained by law enforcement officers on the way to the border settlement.
