On April 22, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the Bakhmut region, a fighter of the special purpose unit "Aratta" of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine of the Ministry of Defense Andrii Melnyk died heroically.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press centre of the 8th separate "Aratta" battalion named after Andrii Herhert of the UVA.

"Friend "Mel", your courage and valor will always be an example to us! Rest in peace. Eternal memory to the HERO!" the statement reads.
