21-year-old US Marine Corps veteran Ethan Hurstweck was killed in action for Ukraine.
This was reported by a British volunteer in the Ukrainian army, Maser Gifford, Censor.NET reports.
"Our dear friend and brother-in-arms Ethan Hertweck has died. The brave American volunteer joined the 131st Regiment as a combat medic. He recently transferred to another brigade where he tragically died in a battle with the aggressor," the statement reads.
American TV journalist Steve Grant said that Ethan Hertweck died on December 14, rescuing a wounded Ukrainian soldier from the battlefield. Ethan initially went to Ukraine not to fight, but to save lives. He obtained a combat medic license and began teaching first aid skills to Ukrainians.
Later, Ethan Hertweck signed a contract with the Ukrainian Armed Forces and joined the 131st Special Reconnaissance Battalion "Witcher".
"After a while, the American medic was relocated to the 59th Motorized Brigade. At the same time, he remained a combat medic for both the new brigade and the 131st battalion. On December 8, he and the brigade went on another military mission. At that moment, an attack by the Russian Armed Forces began, and Ethan and another soldier stayed behind to cover their group. They managed to eliminate up to 12 enemy soldiers and thus stop the enemy attack. Ethan was killed when he tried to evacuate his wounded comrade from the battlefield," the post reads.
On December 19, Ethan Hertweck was to return to the United States
