Hundreds of people came to bid farewell to policeman killed in gunfight in Odesa. PHOTOS
The farewell ceremony for Serghii Pryharin, the police officer who was killed while apprehending a criminal on Jan. 19, was held in Odesa House of Officers.
As reported by Censor.NET citing the local news outlet 048.ua, hundreds of people including colleagues-policemen come to the House of Officers today to pay last tribute to the law enforcer. He was survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter.
The farewell ceremony to the deceased policeman was held in Odesa-based House of Officers.
Odesa region Governor Maksym Stepanov and Odesa First Deputy Mayor Anatolii Orlovskyi came to honor the memory of the killed policeman.
Ukraine’s National Police Deputy Chief Viacheslav Abroskin also arrived in Odesa to bid farewell to the policeman.
He said that the police will make every effort to let Pryharin’s two-year-old daughter know that her father was a hero. In other words, the police will take care of the family, the publication said.
As reported, three policemen were injured in a gunfight with a suspect in downtown Odesa on Jan. 19. The perpetrator was eliminated. The shootout sparked Jan. 19 when the district police officer and investigator came to apprehend a person suspected of committing the offense punished by part 4 of the article 296 (armed hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Police officer Pryharin later died in a hospital of wounds he received in the gunfight.
