The SSU prevented an attempt to illegally export aircraft components subject to state export control from Ukraine.

In the course of complex measures in Dnipro, two entrepreneurs were exposed who tried to illegally transport two D-36 turbojet aircraft engines to Iran for sale. This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.

It was established that the offenders planned to sell Ukrainian products to foreigners for USD 400 000.

The "customers" planned to use the relevant high-tech equipment on AN-74 military transport aircraft.

"To disguise their criminal activity, the criminals wanted to export aircraft engines from Ukraine under the guise of components for gas pipelines. To do this, they entered false information in the shipping declarations. However, the SSU officers exposed the fraud in a timely manner and blocked it," the statement said.

According to the investigation, the organizers of the scheme are two owners of a Dnipro-based company specializing in freight transport to the Middle East and Africa.

According to intelligence, the engines they were trying to smuggle abroad had previously been stolen during the liquidation of a state-owned enterprise.

The dealers planned to make "cosmetic" repairs to these units and produce forged documents for their further sale.

The criminals stored the aircraft products in a hangar on the territory of the enterprise. It was there that law enforcement officers found it during searches at the suspects' places of work.

The engines have now been seized for examination. After that, the issue of their transfer to the needs of the Ukrainian defense industry will be decided.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated by the SSU investigators under Part 1 Article 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control).

The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region under the procedural supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
