Two traitors who tried to avoid justice after collaborating with the enemy in Kherson region were detained.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press service.

One of the defendants even mobilised into the National Guard to "hide" from law enforcement. However, SSU officers exposed the offenders in a timely manner, established their location and detained them.

"According to the investigation, the collaborators were two former employees of a furniture factory in Kherson. During the occupation of the city, they voluntarily went to work in a prison created by the aggressor.

There, they were appointed "junior inspectors" of the then-captured Northern Correctional Colony No. 90. In this institution, the Nazis held abducted locals, primarily members of the resistance movement in the region, on a large scale. The task of both collaborators was to guard the prison cells where the victims were held," the statement said.

During the de-occupation of Kherson, they moved to a neighboring village and tried to hide from justice.

"Subsequently, one of the defendants moved to his parents in Yuzhnoukrainsk, Mykolaiv region, and from there mobilised to one of the military units of the National Guard of Ukraine. During the searches at the detainees' places of residence, the SSU found "certificates" of the Russian occupation body and financial "information" on receiving "salaries" in Russian rubles," the SSU said.

They were served a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration). The court imposed on them a custodial measure of restraint. The offenders face up to 15 years in prison.
