Russian army starts using airfield in North Ossetia for missile attacks on Ukraine - media. PHOTO

With launch of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive in Zaporizhzhia sector, Russian army moved strategic aviation to an airfield near city of Mozdok in North Ossetia (North Caucasus, Russia).

This is evidenced by satellite images from Planet Labs, Censor.NET reports citing Radio Liberty.

On the night of 22 June, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, TU-22M3s took off from this airfield and launched X-22 cruise missiles at the Dnipro region, damaging, among other things, several private houses, a gas pipeline, a water supply system, power lines and cars.

For the first time, Planet Labs spotted TU-22M3 strategic aircraft, which are carriers of X-22 cruise missiles, at this airfield on 24 May this year. Six bombers can be seen in the image.

At the same time, as of 28 April, according to satellite photos, there were no strategic aircraft at this airfield.

On the eve of the missile attack on the Dnipro region, 7 TU-22M3 strategic aircraft were stationed at the airfield near Mozdok. Cargo planes that can transport missiles can also be seen in the image.
