Russian Irina Osipova, who openly supports the war against Ukraine and Putin’s dictatorial regime, was appointed "parliamentary assistant" in the Italian Senate.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.

It is noted that Osipova will be responsible for databases, classification and archiving of correspondence in the Upper House of the Italian Parliament, and her duties will also include administrative and accounting functions. She will have access to dossiers on all important issues.

According to Paola Binetti, the head of the Senate Commission, Iryna Osypova got the job "solely because of her personal abilities". It is noted that during the exams, Osipova was not asked about her political views, but the examination procedure does not provide for this.

When asked by journalists about the possibility of employing people who support the war in Ukraine in the Senate, Binetti replied that "a public official would not be allowed to spread propaganda".

It is known that Irina Osipova was born in Moscow in 1988 and has dual citizenship - Russian and Italian. Her father, Oleg Osipov, is the former head of Rossotrudnichestvo's representative office in Italy and the first head of the Russian House in Rome.

Osipova is known to have protested after sanctions were imposed on Russia over the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Italians have already created a petition to prevent Russian Irina Osipova from working in the Italian Senate. However, the petition has not yet gathered the required number of votes.
