President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the disposition of the 117th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade in Sumy region. Zelenskyy also inspects the construction of fortifications near the city of Sumy.

The Head of State listened to the reports of the commander of the Siversk operational and tactical grouping Major General Dmytro Krasylnykov and Brigadier General Colonel Maksym Aksamytovskyi on the operational situation in the area of responsibility of the brigade and interaction with neighbouring units.
The commander of the 117th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade reported on the ratio of forces, equipment and weapons, informed about the peculiarities and dynamics of the enemy's use of guided aerial bombs. During the meeting, the President discussed with the commanders the need for means to combat this type of weapon.
Zelenskyy was briefed on the organisation of defence along the three border lines. They discussed the current needs for weapons and equipment. The Head of State also inspected the brigade's command post, including the support forces department, air defence department, and decision-making point.
The President awarded servicemen of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service and the National Guard with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, III degree, For Courage, III degree, medals For Military Service to Ukraine and Defender of the Fatherland.
Zelenskyy also got acquainted with the construction of fortifications near the city of Sumy. The President inspected trenches, dugouts, firing and command and observation posts.
Zelenskyy was told about a typical project for the construction of a platoon stronghold. It includes, among other things, reinforced concrete structures, firing positions for tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, and corrugated steel shelters. An important element is also a line of non-explosive barriers to deter enemy vehicles.
