Underground "factory" of fake documents has been blocked in Ukraine - National Police. PHOTOS

Officers of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the ESB, the SSU, and the Prosecutor's Office blocked the underground "factory" of forged documents.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

"Millions of dollars in monthly profits and an extensive network of forged documents sales throughout Ukraine - this was the scale of the criminal group. The criminals have set up a large-scale production of fake documents, including those issued by the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine," the statement said.

It is noted that a 27-year-old resident of the Prykarpattia region organized a criminal business selling forged documents. He involved other people from different regions in his activities. The range of forged documents produced by the accomplices included a passport, a driver's license and a car registration certificate, as well as various documents of institutions and organizations.

Law enforcement officers found out that the accomplices could even buy official IDs of the National Police, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard, and the Security Service of Ukraine.

"The conspirators received and processed orders via Telegram. To avoid being seen by law enforcement, they came up with their own system of conspiracy - they used one-day SIM cards. The parcels were sent through postal machines with no video cameras around and at night.

The cost of forgery depended on the complexity of the document and the urgency of its production. For example, a driver's license cost a little over 8,000 hryvnias, and a passport about $2,000. And for $1500, people could "become" employees of the SSU or the National Police. In particular, fake military IDs were in great demand among customers. According to operational information, the monthly profit of the criminals reached two to three million hryvnias," the National Police said.

Operatives of the Vinnytsia Department of the Internal Security Department of the National Police and the SSU Regional Department, together with investigators of the Vinnytsia Department of the BES, conducted more than 30 searches at the suspects' premises. During the searches, they found and seized blank "certificates" of the SBU, the National Guard, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service, the DAB, stamps of various government agencies, passport blanks, driver's licenses, and sketches of seals with Russian symbols.

With the physical support of the SBI Rapid Response Department, the main offenders were detained in a procedural manner. They have been served suspicion notices under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 199 (Production, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, importation into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale or sale of counterfeit money, government securities in paper form, state lottery tickets, excise tax stamps, or holographic security elements) and Part 3 of Art. 358 (Counterfeiting of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of counterfeit documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
