In a border district in the Sumy region, the bodies of a man and his mother were found who were preparing to evacuate but stopped communicating, presumably killed by a Russian attack.

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Censor.NET reports.

"On 26 January 2025, in the village of Ponomarenky of the Velykopysarivska community of the Okhtyrka district, law enforcement officers found the bodies of a 62-year-old man and his 86-year-old mother, who were preparing for evacuation on 9 December 2024. Since then, they have not been in touch,¸ the statement said.

According to the prosecutor's office, according to preliminary data, the people died as a result of hostile shelling.
