The State Bureau of Investigation has served a notice of suspicion to the head of the financial and economic service of a military unit in the Odesa region, who, through negligence, allowed the misappropriation of UAH 2.3 million.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, Censor.NET reports.
As noted, the money intended for payments to missing soldiers was illegally transferred to an unauthorised person's account.
According to the investigation, the accountant of the military unit indicated his acquaintance's bank account in financial documents instead of the military's accounts for a year, and his superior signed documents on payments without checking the accuracy of the data. The fraudulent scheme resulted in the misappropriation of UAH 2.3 million.
The National Police has already sent an indictment to the court against the accountant, who is in custody. A civil lawsuit has been filed to compensate for the losses.
Meanwhile, the head of the financial and economic service of the military unit was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Negligent attitude to military service"), which provides for up to 8 years in prison.
