Man with drugs and weapons detained in Chernihiv after attacking serviceman - National Police. VIDEO+PHOTOS
In Chernihiv, police detained a man who attacked a soldier, used pepper spray and threatened him with a truncheon.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Communications Department of the National Police.
Reportedly, on 6 February, a TCR and SS soldier was attacked in Chernihiv. The man refused to provide documents for verification, behaved aggressively and threatened one of the soldiers with a telescopic baton. He then sprayed pepper spray in the victim's face and fled the scene.
The police quickly identified the attacker as a 43-year-old local resident. The man had locked himself in his apartment after the incident, but law enforcement officers quickly found his whereabouts. In order to detain him, the police conducted a search at his place of residence, involving members of the Special Police Battalion and a dog handler.
During the search, about 1 kg of cannabis, a telescopic baton and more than 200 rounds of ammunition of various calibres were found. All seized items were sent for expert examination.
The offender was detained in accordance with the procedure stipulated by Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine (Detention by an authorised official). Under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office, he was served a notice of suspicion of committing several criminal offences.
The man is charged under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: intentional battery (Article 350, Part 2) and infliction of light or moderate bodily harm to an official, illegal possession of drugs and weapons (Article 309, Part 1).
The investigation is currently underway, and the sanction for the most serious of these offences is imprisonment for up to 7 years.
