"Putin is real dictator": Front page of pro-Trump New York Post. PHOTO
The New York Post, a conservative American newspaper that US President Donald Trump likes to read, has published a cover featuring Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The publication explained in detail who the real "dictator without elections" is in the world.
This was reported by Censor.NET.
The 21 February issue of The New York Post came out with a large portrait of Vladimir Putin on the front page and the headline: "Mr President: Putin is a dictator and 10 truths about the Russian-Ukrainian war that we ignore at our at the risk and peril".
The author of the column, Douglas Murray, identified 10 facts for Donald Trump's "epiphany".
The war was started by dictator Putin
The number one fact is that Kremlin leader Putin started this war "despite what Trump said a few days ago".
The journalist emphasises that Trump is absolutely right that the war "should never have started", but adds that it was Putin who started the war, not Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.
"Putin has ruled Russia with the iron fist of the KGB since he came to power in 1999. He has ruthlessly suppressed the independent media, put an end to free and fair elections, crushed civil society and assassinated his political opponents. And not only in Russia, but around the world. People who live in Russia and express any opposition to the war are imprisoned," the article says.
Zelenskyy is not a dictator
Instead, the journalist emphasises that Zelenskyy is not a dictator, but a politician who won the 2019 presidential election, which was relatively free and fair.
"His approval rating is 57 per cent, not the 4 per cent Trump claimed. Unlike Russia, Ukraine has a active independent media sector that holds the government accountable—despite claims to the contrary from internet trolls and Russian bots," the article says.
"Whether Zelenskyy is re-elected in Ukraine or not, Putin will always be re-elected in Russia. Because his elections are a fraud, a show. Putin has never won a single free and fair election in his life. Because he does not hold them," the author writes.
Putin's desire to occupy Ukraine
It is noted that Russia is seeking to seize Ukraine, which is an internationally recognised sovereign state.
Putin invaded with the hope of swallowing the country whole. Ukraine, on the other hand, has absolutely no territorial ambitions towards Russia.
"Among the many violations and war crimes committed by Putin's army is the abduction of about 20,000 Ukrainian children. Who wants to live in a world where the strong can simply absorb the weak and abduct thousands of young children? Why didn't the US put the release of these children at the top of its demands during the negotiations?" - the newspaper writes.
Ukraine is fighting for its independence
Most Ukrainians do not want to be part of Russia. They do not want to be ruled from Moscow. The vast majority want to live in an independent, sovereign country that determines its own future.
Ukrainians are not Russians
Ukrainians and Russians are not "one people - one whole", as Putin wrote in his 2021 essay. He is also simply lying when he claims that "modern Ukraine is entirely a product of the Soviet era". Ukrainians and Russians are two separate ethnic groups. They speak different languages and have different histories, the publication adds.
Ukraine is a friend of the United States. Ukraine wants to be part of an American-led world order. Its people and government are deeply pro-American.
Putin cannot be trusted. This is not just a statement of fact. It is also something that 81% of American voters agree with. Putin has invaded several countries, violating all international agreements. He has interfered in the elections of his closest neighbours. He has violated international agreements, including the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with the United States.
US aid to Ukraine is not wasted. About $58 billion of the $183 billion in aid to Ukraine has been spent in the United States. This is money that has benefited American workers and industries.
Russia is no friend of the United States. It is a hostile nuclear power that hates American power and the world the United States has built. It has increasingly close relations with China, Iran and North Korea. In fact, all of its main friends are countries that are America's greatest enemies, the New York Post summarises.
In 2017, it was reported that the New York Post was Donald Trump's favourite newspaper.
rump's statements about Zelenskyy's rating
As a reminder, the day before, Trump said that Ukraine needs to hold elections because Zelenskyy's approval rating has dropped to 4%.
As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 37% do not, according to a KIIS study.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the statements about his 4% rating disinformation.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" because he allegedly convinced America to "spend $350 billion on the war".
