The SSU detained an FSB agent in Kropyvnytskyi who was preparing to set fire to a power substation that supplies a hospital and military units.

SBU detains FSB agent who wanted to burn down power substation

As noted, the suspect was detained red-handed during additional reconnaissance of the area. He planned to set fire to a substation in the Kirovohrad region that supplies electricity to the regional hospital and several units of the Defence Forces.

According to the SSU, the 30-year-old local resident was looking for "quick money" in telegram channels, where he was recruited by Russian special services. He transmitted data on energy facilities, their technical condition, and security. In addition, he informed the enemy of the geolocation of possible Ukrainian military bases that were planned to be targeted.

During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with the FSB was seized from the detainee. He was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The court chose custody as a measure of restraint. The offender faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
