In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officers detained a 74-year-old man who promised conscripts to avoid mobilization for $11,000 by helping them obtain fake medical documents.

A man who helped avoid mobilisation for $11,000 is detained in Zaporizhzhia

According to the investigation, the 74-year-old suspect negotiated with military medical commissions to issue fictitious diagnoses that allowed his clients to travel freely outside Ukraine.

It was established that the man was looking for potential clients among his friends and on the Internet. He promised to receive forged medical documents that indicated his unfitness for military service. On 25 February, the offender was detained while receiving another $11,000.

During searches of his car and residence, law enforcement officers seized money, a mobile phone, medical documents and other evidence of criminal activity.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 15 (Attempted criminal offence), Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine), Part 2 of Article 369-2 (Abuse of influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect faces up to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are identifying other persons involved in the scheme.
