New terrorist attacks were prevented in Dnipropetrovsk region. Two Russian agents were detained who were planning to organise at least two explosions.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press service.
"The first target of the perpetrators was a pickup truck of a mobile fire team of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The terrorists were supposed to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) under the vehicle and detonate it by calling a phone attached to the explosive.
In the event of a terrorist attack, Russian special services planned a new task for their agents - to prepare an explosion at the main entrance to the TCR in Nikopol district," the statement said.
SSU counterintelligence officers exposed and disrupted the enemy's intentions in advance. Two Russian agents were detained when they equipped an IED and conducted additional reconnaissance near the first "target" - a pickup truck of a mobile fire team.
The detainees were found to have 3 kg of explosives with a detonator, which they hid in a plastic canister and "reinforced" with metal nuts.
"The Russian agents were two local residents, one of whom is a repeat offender with a criminal record for theft. Both men came to the attention of Russian special services while searching for "easy" money on Telegram channels," the SSU said.
They have been served a notice of suspicion under Article 14, Part 1, Article 258, Part 2 (preparation to commit a terrorist act by prior conspiracy).
The offenders are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
