Underground PR agency working for Russia exposed in Kyiv region - SSU. PHOTOS
A cell of Russian special services was exposed in Kyiv region. Two professional Russian PR specialists who committed information sabotage against Ukraine were detained.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press service.
According to the Security Service, the defendants worked mainly in the EU "media market". They prepared and distributed materials discrediting Ukraine and justifying Russian aggression.
"To do this, PR specialists created more than 200 websites that actually duplicated the kremlin's official mouthpieces and were registered to fake accounts to avoid blocking. The attackers also conducted information campaigns in the EU countries on behalf of the enemy and justified the top officials of the aggressor country under sanctions," the statement said.
They also promoted the media image of the Kremlin's two "wallets":
- Igor Shuvalov, head of the Russian state corporation "Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs";
- Andrey Kostin, Chairman of the Board of "VTB" Bank in Moscow.
Both Russian bankers are members of Putin's inner circle and are involved in large-scale schemes to finance Russia's armed aggression.
"Until 2022, these PR specialists were fulfilling commercial orders from the Russian Federation. After the outbreak of full-scale war, the men were contacted remotely by their former employer from Russia and offered to cooperate with the occupiers. During the searches, the SSU seized computer equipment and mobile phones with evidence of crimes," the SSU added.
They have been served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The offenders are being held in custody without the right to be released on bail. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
