The Israeli prime minister became the first foreign leader to meet with Trump after the announcement of the tariffs, said Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council.

According to Trump's statement last week, the United States has set a 17% rate for Israel.

"Today is Israel's first meeting," he said, alluding to all the countries trying to negotiate.

"President Trump has been talking to world leaders all weekend," the official said.

"I'm sure they will also discuss trade policy and Middle East policy," Hassett told Fox News on Monday from the White House.

Before arriving at the White House, Netanyahu met with US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, which made him about half an hour late for his meeting with Trump at the White House.

The visit also included a joint press conference between Trump and Netanyahu, but the White House said it was cancelled.
