He targeted Kharkiv with GABs: SSU detains Russian agent. PHOTOS
A Russian agent who spied on the Ukrainian Armed Forces units was detained in Kharkiv.
This was reported by the press service of the SSU, Censor.NET informs.
This is a 49-year-old local publishing house employee who was recruited by the occupiers through Telegram channels.
Thus, the man was travelling around the northern outskirts of the frontline city, where he tried to identify reserve command posts of Ukrainian troops.
During this time, he "hid" behind business trips, and when he returned home, he summarised the data collected for a "report" to his Russian supervisor.
"According to the coordinates provided by the informant, the aggressor planned to prepare a new series of air strikes on the city using guided aerial bombs. After documenting the offender's crimes, the SSU officers detained him at his place of residence. Comprehensive measures were taken simultaneously to secure the locations of the Defence Forces," the statement said.
The SSU also established that the offender additionally recorded the addresses of energy facilities, including modular boiler houses.
During the searches in his apartment, a phone with a messenger was found, through which he sent the occupiers the geolocation of potential targets in the form of marks on Google maps.
The man was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorised dissemination of information on the movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, if it is possible to identify them on the ground).
He is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
