Two co-founders of private enterprises and a farmer from the Dnipropetrovsk region who contaminated the land with the carcasses of dead animals will be tried.
This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, Censor.NET reports.
"The heads of enterprises specialising in meat processing, together with a local farmer, illegally exported hazardous animal waste and stored it on land plots in a village in the Synelnykove district of the region. At the same time, the defendants issued fictitious documents on compliance with the requirements and norms of animal waste disposal.
During the searches, law enforcement officers found waste on an area of more than 2,000 square metres," the statement said.
Laboratory and instrumental studies were carried out. The soil samples collected showed excessive levels of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, phosphorus, zinc, and copper, which poses a threat to the environment, as well as human life and health.
They are charged with pollution and damage to land by waste harmful to life, human health and the environment, violation of sanitary rules and regulations for the prevention of infectious diseases and mass poisoning, and forgery as part of an organised group (Articles 27(2), (3), (5), 28(2), (3), (28), 239(1), (1), (325), (1), (366) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Pre-trial restraints have been imposed on the accused.
