Two residents of Bukovyna equipped a minibus with a hidden compartment and tried to smuggle a group of draft dodgers across the border. The Bukovyna residents were served a notice of suspicion.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Specialised Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region.

Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Specialised Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region, two residents of Chernivtsi region were served a notice of suspicion of organising illegal trafficking of persons across the state border of Ukraine by prior conspiracy of a group of persons (Part 3 Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Set up a  hidden compartment in a minibus

According to the investigation, the suspects equipped a minibus with a hidden compartment in which they hid conscripts who wanted to leave the country. Initially, the smugglers promised to take the men to Poland and from there to other EU countries.

The price for such services ranged from 12 to 16 thousand US dollars per person. The suspects planned to receive the money after successfully transporting their "clients".

Detained while crossing the border

However, during an attempt to smuggle three people, residents of Kyiv, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions, the suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. Pre-trial restraints have been imposed on them.
