SSU CI prevented new attempts by ruscists to carry out a series of explosions in Vinnytsia. The special operation resulted in the detention of three agents of Russian military intelligence who were preparing to blow up an Armed Forces vehicle and a police administrative building.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.

According to the investigation, the offenders were to plant an improvised explosive device (IED) under the car of a Ukrainian soldier whom the occupiers hoped to eliminate remotely.

To activate the IED, Russian special services planned to make a call to a mobile phone that was equipped with explosives.

The SSU officers exposed the hostile intentions in advance and detained the perpetrators of the Russian order when they were setting up a hidden camera near the site of the planned explosion.

The detainees were two unemployed residents of the Kyiv region, who were recruited by the occupiers in Telegram channels in search of "easy money".

Preparation for crime

The agents arrived in Vinnytsia and rented an apartment for the money of the Russian gru. Later, they received the geolocation of the cache from the curator and took two IEDs from there.

According to the case file, the third member of the group, a 33-year-old local resident, was engaged in the manufacture of explosives. Following the instructions of the occupiers, he put explosives in thermoses and additionally stuffed them with screws.

If the military vehicle and its owner were blown up, the agents were supposed to prepare a new terrorist attack near the local police station. However, the SSU foiled their plans.

Detention of Russian agents

During the search, two IEDs and mobile phones with evidence of cooperation with the Russian gru were seized from the detainees.

The SSU investigators served them with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offenders are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
