The SSU jointly with National Police prevented another terrorist attack by Russian military intelligence in Lviv. The special operation resulted in the detention of two enemy agents who were planning to blow up the administrative building of the local police department.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.

What kind of terrorist attack were enemy agents preparing?

The investigation established that the offenders had to bring an improvised explosive device (IED) hidden in a package into a state institution to commit the crime.

At that moment, the Russian special services planned to detonate the explosives remotely with their agents.

One of the executors of the Russian order is a 22-year-old resident of Kyiv who was looking for "easy money" on Telegram channels.

According to intelligence, she was recruited by a Russian operative and given a "test" task - to post leaflets with fake Russian propaganda in the capital.

Later, the agent was sent to Lviv to prepare a terrorist attack against Ukrainian law enforcement officers. She involved her acquaintance from Kyiv in the crime.

"After arriving in the western region, the perpetrators received the coordinates of the cache from the curator, from which they took an IED disguised as a fire extinguisher.

They were also going to install a hidden video camera with remote access for the occupiers near the "target", which was supposed to record the movement of agents and the consequences of the terrorist attack," the statement said.

Exposing agents

SSU counterintelligence exposed both agents in advance, documented their crimes and detained them red-handed as they approached a police unit with explosives.

The SSU investigators served the detainees a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offenders are in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
