Today, April 15, customs officers and border guards at the Porubne–Siret checkpoint prevented an attempt to smuggle undeclared cash amounting to $200,000.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the SMS (State Migration Service).
A significant amount of cash was found among the personal belongings of a truck driver travelling from Ukraine to North Macedonia with a cargo of "a mixture of vegetable oils". The man had no documents confirming the legal origin of the funds.
A report on violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was drawn up. The sanction provides for a fine of 20% of the amount exceeding the permitted amount of goods to be moved without a written declaration.
In accordance with the customs legislation, an individual has the right to move cash currency and precious metals across the customs border of Ukraine in an amount not exceeding the equivalent of EUR 10,000 without a written declaration to the customs authority and without providing any permits.
