In Rivne region, operational officers of the Zhytomyr detachment uncovered a scheme for illegally smuggling men across the border, organized by a resident of Sarny.
Together with accomplices, he arranged crossings outside official border checkpoints and charged $10,000 per person, Censor.NET reports.
To carry out the plan, the man rented a private house, where he brought eight offenders, providing them with food.
He managed to send two "clients" to the starting point of the illegal route, but they were promptly detained by a border patrol.
Later, while attempting to transport six more, the car was stopped on the outskirts of the village, and the organiser and the entire group were detained.
The suspect was detained and charged.
The operation was carried out jointly with the SBU’s Main Internal Security Department, the police, and under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
