On 14 February, while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk region, three police officers from Bukovina – Volodymyr Voitsekhovskyi, Mykhailo Heshko and Anatolii Yurchak – were killed by Russian artillery fire. They were fighters in a special police rifle battalion.
This was reported by the National Police, according to Censor.NET.
Senior Police Sergeant Volodymyr Andriiovych Voitsekhovskyi
The police said that Volodymyr Voitsekhovskyi was born on 6 April 1998 in the village of Hlyboka, Chernivtsi region. In 2020, he graduated from the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management with a degree in Law, obtaining a higher education.
He began serving in the National Police in March 2017. From 16 September 2025, he served as a police officer in platoon No. 1 of company No. 1 of the special purpose (rifle) police battalion of the Main Department of the National Police in Chernivtsi region.
"Young, determined, with a deep sense of responsibility and honour, Volodymyr served with dignity and was respected among his colleagues and comrades," the police said.
Police Corporal Mykhailo Ivanovych Heshko
Mykhailo Heshko was born on 21 November 1995 in the village of Sukhoverkhiv, Chernivtsi region. In 2014, he graduated from the Chernivtsi Professional Lyceum.
From 28 August 2025, he served as a police officer in platoon No. 1 of company No. 1 of the special purpose (rifle) police battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernivtsi region.
"He was a reliable, courageous and responsible police officer, always ready to defend citizens and support his comrades," the statement said.
Police Corporal Anatolii Mykolayovych Yurchak
Anatolii Yurchak was born on 17 May 1987 in the village of Bratanivka, Chernivtsi region. In 2005, he graduated from vocational school No. 6 in Chernivtsi, qualifying as a gas equipment maintenance and repair mechanic and manual electric welder.
From 22 October 2025, he served as a police officer in platoon No. 3 of company No. 1 of the special purpose (rifle) police battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region.
He was noted for his endurance, determination and dedication to service, and was an example of responsibility and strength of spirit.
"The police officers bravely held their ground, defending the state from the occupiers. They remained at their posts until the very end, carrying out their tasks and covering each other. Their feat is an example of true dedication to service, honour and love for their homeland. Young, strong, full of plans for life, they gave their most precious gift for the future of Ukraine," the National Police added.
