Russian agents who blew up car near one of SSU buildings on 11 February detained. VIDEO+PHOTOS

The Main Directorate of Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two Russian agents who committed a terrorist attack on one of the central streets of Kyiv on 11 February this year.

According to the case file, the perpetrators first loaded explosives into a van parked next to one of the SSU facilities and then detonated it, reports Censor.NET.

What is known?

The investigation established that the Russian order was carried out by a 47-year-old Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman recruited by the enemy, who had left his place of service in the Sumy region without permission. After escaping from the garrison, the deserter "laid low" in western Ukraine.

Later, on the instructions of his handler, he recruited a 29-year-old accomplice from Kyiv, whom he introduced as a Ukrainian special services agent, and instructed him to make a homemade explosive device (HED) with remote activation.

The Russian "customers" also purchased a used van through front men and ordered it to be converted into an ambulance for transporting wounded soldiers of the Defence Forces.

To this end, the car sellers installed oxygen and gas cylinders in the vehicle's interior and equipped it with a remote-access webcam, which was then used by Russian special services agents. In reality, the gas cylinder equipment was supposed to increase the destructive power of the explosion, and the ruscits used the video device to monitor the parking of the van at the site of the planned terrorist attack.

After making the improvised explosive device, the suspects placed it inside the van and quickly left the location. The Russians then remotely detonated the car.

During searches of the suspects' temporary residences, components for a homemade bomb, video surveillance cameras, and SIM cards were found, which were being prepared for new terrorist attacks.

Currently, Security Service investigators have informed both agents that they are suspected of terrorist activity. The detainees are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
