Law enforcement officers have uncovered a man recruited by the FSB who was planning to plant explosives near an electrical substation in Kropyvnytskyi.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the SSU press centre.
According to the investigation, the suspect was detained during curfew while he was retrieving a homemade explosive device from a hiding place at the entrance to the city.
Details of the sabotage plot
The explosive device was equipped with approximately 300 grams of plastic explosive and a mobile phone for remote activation.
According to the plan, the agent was to transport the device by taxi and plant it near the transformers of a main substation that supplies power to key facilities in the city.
According to the case file, the perpetrator was a local unemployed man who had been recruited via Telegram channels with the promise of "quick money".
After agreeing to the plan, he received the coordinates of the hideout and instructions from the Russian special services.
Criminal liability
The detainee has been notified of suspicion under the article on high treason during martial law. An additional charge relating to the preparation of sabotage is also being considered.
He is currently in custody without the right to bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
