On Dec. 4, in Odesa, Povernys Zhyvym (Come Back Alive) charitable foundation presented a marine radar FURUNO FAR-2117/27 to the crew of Ukrainian Navy flagship Hetman Sahaidachnyi, costing UAH 277,000 (approx. $12,000).
Censor.NET reports referring to foundation's press service.
Hetman Sahaidachnyi protects Ukraine's maritime borders and territorial integrity, in particular, detects and destroys enemy surface ships, aircraft, underwater objects, participates in international military exercises jointly with NATO ships.

After the foundation made an ask-for-help post in Facebook, people were not indifferent to the issue and contributed to equipping the frigate with an autonomous marine radar FURUNO FAR-2117/27 which was presented on Ukraine's Armed Forces Day.

"Given that Hetman Sahaidachnyi is Ukraine's flagship, raising its efficiency even by 5-10 percent is already more than enough. In the case of Russian aggression, the enemy will try to make a landing because the depth of our waters precludes the use of submarines. With the help of this radar, the crew will timely detect the enemy and quickly make right decisions. The necessary funds have been raised only thanks to the active citizens of Ukraine who despite the hard times understand that the best investment in our security is helping the army," foundation director Vitalii Deineha said.

The volunteers say other equipment is highly needed on board Hetman Sahaidachnyi:
1. Two AIS (Automatic Identification System) modules which will allow the ship to more accurately classify targets and bolster its detection range. The total cost makes $700.
2. Two thermal cameras used for building inspections, which in case of a fire will help quickly detect it and extinguish. The total cost makes $3,000
