As reported by Censor.NET, the Turkish army tried to seize control of the country to "defend democracy and the rights of citizens." Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised to find and destroy those responsible for the "occupation."
Later, the Turkish intelligence service said that the coup attempt was repelled. According to the local authorities, the situation was brought under control.
According to the prosecutor's office in Ankara, the military takeover attempt claimed lives of 42 people in the capital of Turkey.
