Two residents of Zakarpattia, who attempted to smuggle a 29-year-old man from the Kyiv region into Romania, were detained by border guards from the "Dilove" unit and the "Dozor" special unit.

According to the organisers’ plan, the client was to cross the border through difficult-to-access mountainous terrain, reports Censor.NET.

Details

On the eve of the crossing, the traffickers ordered the Kyiv resident to wait in an abandoned building, after which they began to escort him to the state border. The man was to traverse the most dangerous and difficult section of the route on his own. The Transcarpathians valued their "services" at 4,000 US dollars.

Penalties and preventive measures: Border guards prevented the plan from being carried out. An administrative offence report has been drawn up against the fugitive.

Regarding the organisers of the scheme, border guards notified the National Police after identifying signs of a criminal offence.

As a result of joint operations with officers from the Rakhiv District Police Department and under the procedural guidance of the Tyachiv District Prosecutor’s Office, both suspects were detained. They have already been notified of the charges against them.

The court has ordered a preventive measure for the detainees – remand in custody for a period of 60 days, with the right to post bail of 530,000 hryvnias each. The investigation is ongoing.
