Russians damage shelter over Skovoroda Museum in Kharkiv region with drone. PHOTO

A Russian drone damaged the protective shelter over the Hryhorii Skovoroda National Literary and Memorial Museum in Kharkiv region. The museum itself had previously been destroyed by a Russian strike in 2022.

The site is a historical monument of national importance, the house where Hryhorii Skovoroda lived and died.

What has been damaged

According to preliminary data, eight spans of the protective roof over the museum were damaged in the attack.

A large hole was found in one of the spans, while seven others were damaged by fragments.

The ministry said the museum building itself and the shelter’s load-bearing structures were not damaged.

What is known

Police, rescuers and relevant specialists are documenting the aftermath of the attack.

The Ministry of Culture has already notified UNESCO of the damage.

The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration also plans to appeal to the organization regarding repair work.

The Culture Ministry recalled that in May 2022, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the Hryhorii Skovoroda Museum in the village of Skovorodynivka. After that, international partners helped create a protective shelter for the monument.
