As part of the latest repatriation efforts, the remains of 528 fallen defenders have been returned to Ukraine. The operation was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the SBU press office.
"As part of the latest repatriation efforts, 528 bodies (remains) of fallen Ukrainian defenders have been returned to Ukraine," the statement said.
The repatriation of the deceased was the result of joint and coordinated efforts by the Joint Center for the Coordination of Search and Rescue Operations for Prisoners of War under the Security Service of Ukraine, the Central Directorate for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Persons Missing under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and other components of Ukraine’s security and defense sector.
"Behind every such repatriation lies complex interagency work aimed at ensuring that Ukraine’s fallen defenders are returned home and that their families are given the opportunity to bid a dignified farewell to their loved ones," the SSU stated.
In the near future, law enforcement investigators, in collaboration with expert agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct the necessary forensic examinations and ensure the identification of the repatriated remains.
The Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with other government agencies, continues its efforts to repatriate the remains of Ukraine’s fallen defenders.
