30 settlements in Sumy region came under Russian attack over past 24 hours: there are casualties and damage. PHOTOS

Over the past 24 hours, from the morning of 16 May to the morning of 17 May 2026, Russian forces carried out nearly 80 attacks on 30 settlements across 21 local communities in the Sumy region, resulting in casualties and damage.

This was reported by the Sumy Regional Military Administration, according to Censor.NET.

The enemy used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, UAVs, and guided aerial bombs across the Sumy region.

Casualties from the attacks

It is noted that three people were injured as a result of enemy strikes in the Sumy region over the past 24 hours.

In the Sumy community, a 46-year-old woman was injured as a result of an attack by an enemy drone.
In the Buryn community, a 55-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were injured as a result of strikes by enemy drones.

Settlements under attack

According to the Regional Military Administration, the heaviest shelling was recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts.

The following communities were targeted by enemy strikes: Sumy, Sadivska, Nyzhniosyrovatska, Khotynska, Mykolaivska rural, Yunakivska, Vorozhbyanska, Krasnopilska, Bilopilska, Myropilska, Berezivska, Hlukhivska, Esmanska, Seredyno-Budska, Khutir-Mykhailivska, Shostka, Yampil, Buryn, Novoslobodska, Kyrykivka, and Velykopysarivska.

Damage and destruction

It is reported that Russian strikes have damaged and destroyed civilian infrastructure:

In the Sumy district, multi-apartment residential buildings, private residential houses, non-residential premises, administrative premises, a shopping centre, passenger cars, and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged;
In the Vorozhba district, private residential buildings, farm buildings, and private cars were damaged;
In the Berezivska district, outbuildings were damaged;
in the Kyrykiv district, a private residential house was damaged;
in the Bilopillis district, a private residential building was damaged;
in the Hlukhiv district, a private residential building was destroyed, and private residential buildings, civilian infrastructure facilities, and a passenger car were damaged;

in the Yampil district, private residential houses were damaged;
in the Mykolaiv district, a passenger car was damaged;
in the Sadivska district, a civil infrastructure facility was damaged;
in the Buryn district, private residential buildings, civilian passenger cars, and a piece of civilian infrastructure were damaged;
in the Shostka district, residential buildings and farm buildings were destroyed.
