An FSB agent has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of property after being exposed by the SSU in late 2024 for coordinating Russian attacks on Chernihiv.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine, according to Censor.NET.
What did the investigation establish?
The investigation established that it was based on her coordinates that, in the autumn of 2024, Russian troops carried out a missile strike on one of the region’s military facilities.
Officers from the Ukrainian security service detained the suspect before she could carry out her next hostile task – installing a hidden video camera with remote access for the Russian security service opposite the military facility.
Using the camouflaged video device, the Russians hoped to adjust a combined missile and drone strike against the ‘target’ during a new series of air strikes on the region.
As the investigation established, the targeting of the shelling was carried out by a nurse from one of the city’s private medical clinics who had been recruited by the enemy. She came to the attention of the Russian special services whilst looking for "easy money" on specialist Telegram channels.
In exchange for money, the traitor patrolled the regional centre and its outskirts to photograph Defence Forces locations with geotags using her mobile phone camera.
Exposure of the traitor
It is noted that the SSU’s military counter-intelligence unit uncovered the enemy’s plot in advance and documented the agent’s criminal activities. At the same time, comprehensive measures were taken to secure the bases of Ukrainian troops.
During searches of the traitor’s premises, a smartphone was seized which she had used to photograph sensitive sites and coordinate her actions with her handler from the FSB of the Russian Federation.
Court verdict
Based on evidence provided by the Security Service, the court found the agent guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).
